Our last day in North Carolina, we went to the Freedom Festival in downtown Bryson City.  Lots of arts and crafts, games and the usual carnival foods to eat.  After perusing up and down the street, listening to a few bands along the way, we retreated to the Italian restaurant for an all-American meal(??).....okay, at least Brian and I had American beer!!  We returned to the bridge to watch the "biggest fireworks display in the Smoky Mountains" take place over the river.  They put on a good show and only in the South do you have to rise to your feet, hand over your heart and sing the National Anthem before the display takes place!  We are off to KS tomorrow and I'd have to say we are all eager to return to the Midwest!!
